The Phallic Series: Reproduction and Moms Hands
Two works in the unfolding series, differing in both visual language and context, linked by the phallic theme common to each piece.
Reproduction is the documentation of a performance piece blending dark and sensual bubble worlds of phantasy, peep-show and an hallucinatory chemical laboratory. This is the continuous culture of strawberry embryos of inflatable condoms using dry ice. Hard to tell if this is feverish reproduction, or perhaps sterilization and castration replicating itself eternally.
Moms Hands combines scenes of physical activities overlaying the real mothers hands in the video projection. The performance creates a stratified reality of images in an aesthetic mixture of shadow theatre, expressionism and slapstick comedy vis a vis the projected fingernails of the mother: Witch, lover, castrating female, devoted and amusing caregiver - Everywoman.
Yaron David has worked in the field of performance art and video-art for the last 6 years. He is curator of the Performance Art Platform (for the Israeli performance art center in Tel-Aviv).
Yaron will be giving a talk on Saturday 11th February at 16.00.
