New Moves

Winter School: Raimund Hoghe

Performing the Personal

Participants will have the opportunity to work with their own personal material - pieces of music, small objects, photographs - within a framework of Hoghes own creative processes. The course is open to artists in the fields of dance, theatre and performance.

Raimund Hoghe is widely regarded as the father of European performance and contemporary dance. As dramaturg with Pina Bausch for more than a decade, Hoghe developed his performance style, spinning theatrical magic from the simplest use of light, space and music.

My interest in theatre is in the relationship between the inner and outer worlds. Whats personal and whats universal, nearness and distance, dreams and reality, past and present. Crossing borders had always attracted me in my own life and in the biographies of others. For example Pier Paolo Pasolini once wrote throwing the body into the fight, Pasolinis sentence was for me an impulse and encouragement to go on stage and to work with my body.
