NAKED: solo aktion intervention reaction
This course will focus on the strategies and methods involved in creating short, body-based solo performance works. Participants will be encouraged to explore their own emotional nudity, to think through ways of presenting the personal as a site for political engagement. The course will explore ideas relating to sexual politics, the politics of representation, ethical rights and social responsibilities. The sessions will be marked by practical shifts away from conventional theatrical practice, with the aim of exploring performance strategies that intervene in, and challenge assumptions about, public space.
The course is aimed at artists and writers with some performance experience. Applicants should be prepared to discuss events in their personal histories and will also be expected to present fragments of previous work that relate in some way to the themes of the course.
