Pearl
As a child I often walked over the fields at the back of our house. One day I saw a cow lying down. As I looked at this massive creature I became aware that it was the only cow in the field. The cow started to groan and make all manner of noises then, as I stood transfixed, the cow started to give birth.
Pearl emerged out of a body of research into the material and metaphorical specificity of milk, exploring its curative and nurturing properties. Through the research process I became interested in the notion of the umbilical and was drawn to the practice of tai chi.
