Tim Bromage

Ol Dog

A short performance involving a kitchen table, where a series of repetitive acts serve as a mode of symbolic demonstration.

These acts refer to experiences of addiction, specifically the attempts at breaking cycles of dependence, and the potential for the transformation of the individual.

Born in Suffolk, Tim Bromage studied fine art at Cardiff School of Art and Design. Since graduating in 2004 he has continued to live and work in Wales, exhibiting at both a national and international level.

Primarily taking inspiration from biblical verse and the industrial workplace, his performance explores notions of sin, penance and redemption.

Themes of magic and machismo are also recurrent within these works, as is the use of costume referencing personal mythologies and cultural stereotypes. Often ambiguous in their meaning, they can be seen as both ridiculous and unsettling.
