Performing Life: The Work of Tehching Hsieh
A talk facilitated by Professor Robert Ayers and Weng Choy, Director of Substation, Singapore.

A rare opportunity to hear from the artist, now retired from performing, about a seminal body of work, including his five One Year Performances that took place between 1978 and 1986, and Tehching Hsieh 1986-1999, a thirteen-year performance. Each of these performances involved a particular vow, a particular constraint and a particular mode of being. The performances were meticulously documented and although Hsieh never explicitly states his rationale for his pieces, each of them raised profound, difficult questions about life and being.
