When no one was looking, I snuck backstage is shot in a disused dark and spacious back stage. Initially the viewer just hears the sound of exhausted, fast breath and then the image of a blue light rope appears. After some time a female figure starts to skip - but is only seen as a silhouette and heard as the body touches the floor and as the light rope periodically hits the ground. As the light rope jump cuts to other colours - red, white and eventually yellow - the viewer gradually sees more of the figure.

How I loved you until I could no longer see you is a video performance portrait, in which the image gradually disappears as more red lipstick is applied leaving kiss marks on the screen. Eventually the viewer can no-longer make out the features and the lens chooses to focus on the fore-grounded lip prints rather than the portrait in the background. Therefore the direct gaze with the viewer becomes obscured and I can no longer see you - the viewer as lover.
In 2002 Sophia New co-founded Plan b together with Daniel Belasco Rogers, they have made a number of performance installations, web pieces and video works.
