Search Party
The Long Walk to the Performance
This is a party, a search party, and we made it just for you. Put on your best outfit, let your hair down and dance like no-one’s watching. This party can’t last forever, so let’s make the most of it while we can. Let’s make this one to remember, one we can look back on and say, “we were there then, in Glasgow, the night Search Party wiped the slate clean.”
Join Search Party as they re-tell and re-enact tales of hope and optimism, of tragedy and regret. The Long Walk to the Performance is a celebration of church hall birthday parties, the Apollo Moon programme, Eddie “the Eagle” Edwards’ performance at the 1988 Winter Olympics and the story of the Whale who swam up the Thames and died a hero. Search Party are optimistic that by replaying these events some hope may be re-kindled, but as the party games go too far, the tragedies accumulate and the failures escalate, it becomes a test of optimistic endurance.
The Long Walk to the Performance was developed with support from the Exeter Phoenix Scratch programme. Search Party are Exeter Phoenix supported artists.
Formed in 2005 Search Party is the collaboration of artists Pete Phillips and Jodie Hawkes. Search Party create original performance work that explores the possibilities of the live event. Search Party create environments and activities which invite the audience to become a part of the experience.
