Touched
The act of one human reaching out to another, especially in times of distress or pain, has inspired artist Sarah Potters latest performance/interactive installation. In it she invites her audience to take a journey through suffering and healing, consistently challenging the British ideals of stiff upper lip and their embarrassed arms-length attitudes to physical and emotional pain. She will encourage participants to tap back into a skill that they were born with healing whilst an intense, live sound piece will activate this sculptural installation, strewn with carefully chosen personal texts.
Glasgow based sound designer, Tiernan Kelly, collaborates with Potter to produce a soundtrack that intuitively unifies Potters powerful touch choreography.
Sarah Potters interdisciplinary practice primarily focuses on changing a space: to inspire participants and visitors to see that space, or concept, in a different way, or from a new angle. She thinks it important to include an interactive element because it allows her to gauge how participants have identified with the work. She values their involvement.
