Between One And Another

Over the past year Sam Rose has been working on ideas concerned with Intimacy and Exchange.

Looking at the many transactions, encounters, and relationships experienced throughout our lives, Sam explores our desire to connect and experience: to touch, to listen, to smell, to taste, to feel, to bridge the distance between one and another.

Exploring influences from the personal, political and sexual, Sam works with various themes surrounding memory, desire, and mortality.

Between One And Another is a series of poetic performance actions and images for an audience of one. You are invited to encounter moments of tenderness, exposure, sensory pleasure, flirtation, revelation, intimacy and exchange.

Based in Nottingham, Sam Rose has been a practising artist over the past 8 years. She graduated in 1997 from NTU with a degree in Contemporary Arts and finished a 30-month Artists Fellowship with Future Factory at the Bonington Gallery in December 2004. She has shown work regionally, nationally, and internationally, creating challenging and innovative performance that crosses the boundaries between visual and live art, theatre and installation. Combining the autobiographical with the conceptual, her work is concerned with the body as a site of inscription through language, through history, and through personal experience.
