Naos
(Re-Ranitus Mytin Cycle#1)

sound & video-installation traject The Sun of Melted Glass
Naos
is a Greek term, freely translated it means the place where something is hidden, the cell of things.

Created by Marc Wroblewski & Geert Feytons. NMF is an audio-visual collective. Its music is created by a variety of self-made instruments in combination with electronics, effects and environmental sound recordings. The instruments and the autonomously, functioning sound sculptures and installations, are constructed from various materials, including cords, pieces of recycled metal, glass and wood, stones and even liquids. The video work of NMF is determined by the desire to visualize any kind of sound source and to use images where sounds strikingly manifest themselves. NMF has been active for several years on the performance art scene and has created several audio-visual performances & installations and released many CDs. They have also been active composing soundtracks for various choreographers, such as Thierry Smits & Wim Vandekeybus.

Filming sounds is the essential departure point of the video-installation The Sun of Melted Glass. Most of the exposed videos are sound recordings made on several locations in Sicily during 2002 and 2003.
The Naos video part contains 4 projections and 7 TV-monitors. 11 DVDs are in interaction with each other (on the visual as well as the sound level) and with the sound spectrum of the surrounding installations.
About 30 sound sculptures are placed in the space. Some are programmed, while the movement of the audience activates others.

Naos is a production by NMT Productions, in co-production with Happy New Ears, Kortrijk and with the support of the Vlaamse Gemeenschap.
