40 espontneous
A little different from the usual Winter School courses, we are looking for 40 people over the age of 40, with no performance experience whatsoever! You are someone who would like to work with a major international artist over 5 evenings, culminating in a performance on the Tramway stage at the end of what promises to be an exciting and very rewarding process.
Working under the name of La Ribot, the Madrid born artist Maria Ribot, has created award- winning performance pieces that exist at the intersection of contemporary dance, live art, performance and video, and who has presented her work at major international art galleries, theatres and festivals. Over the last decade, La Ribot has developed an exacting yet humorous vocabulary as she constantly questions the temporal, spatial and conceptual limits of dance. She has become in particular, renowned for her series of solos Distinguished Pieces.
If you would like to participate in this exciting one-off project please call Colin on 0141 357 5538, or email admin@newmoves.co.uk. Registration and a meeting with La Ribot will take place at Tramway on the Sunday 12 February, please keep that date free and you must be available to attend each of the workshop sessions over 5 evenings and, of course, the performance on the Saturday.
The Glasgow manifestation of 40 espontneous has been produced by New Moves International for new territories 06, in association with Artsadmin.
Originally produced by la Ribot and co-produced by Le Quartz de Brest, France (Creation/Residence); Thtre de la Ville, Paris, France; Centre Pompidou, Paris, France; Festival dAutomne a Paris, France; La Batie - Festival de Genve, Switzerland. 40 espontneous was developed during residencies in London, Montpellier, Brazil, and Geneva in 2002/3.
