Act[ion]

Rendering the body into a sculpture, connecting the body into a space, a moment, a period of time but not preserving anything. Accepting/acknowledging decay, destruction & the fragile balance of our existence. By extending the body through piercing and connecting the body into a space - locking it into the space - I am presenting the body as a sculptural installation rather than as a performance to be witnessed: this is an encounter not an action.

Leaving no trace of the event, no photograph preserving this moment in time, no film unravelling the span of time or the duration of the installation I am exalting nothing. Leaving only memories, either you remember it or you dont.

Kris Canavan was born in Northern Ireland in 1980 and now lives and works in London. He has been creating work across video, photography, performance, painting and installation. His work has been presented in the UK and internationally.
