Gary McNair
Outside of a Pod
“I’ve got a cupboard with cans of food, filtered water and pictures of you and I’m not coming out until this is all over.”
What did you want to be when you grew up?
What do you want to do now you have grown up?
(Have you grown up?)
What are you hiding from?
What are you waiting for?
That solitary moment that shapes and defines the rest of your life?
(What solitary moment will shape and define the rest of your life?)
A heart-attack? The H-bomb? When the fuel runs out?
What are you waiting for?
What do you want to be… today?
Gary graduated from the Contemporary Theatre Practice course at the RSAMD with first class honours in 2007. He has worked with Jamie McMurray, Alexander Del Re and Black Market International. This current solo work was first devised for Into the New Festival at Tramway, March 2007 and then developed further for the Graduates Festival at Battersea Art Centre in July of that year.
