Venue: The Arches (Arch 3 West) & Festival Club
From the heart of London's Underground film club scene, the Exploding Cinema brings you an evening of radically eclectic short films, videos and live performance. Compered with a fierce friendliness, you'll get anything from experimental narrative and agit-prop documentary, to ersatz animation, personal cinema and beyond. There will also be competitions, a raffle, and the venue will itself be transformed by their spectacular multiple celluloid projections.
The Exploding Cinema is 'open access' and embraces the widest range of philosophies and forms, encouraging a true D.I.Y. culture. Set up in 1991, the Company is a London-based, non-profit - making collective of film and video makers who have screened and exhibited literally thousands of short films, videos and related performance work in a diverse array of sites including empty swimming pools, church halls, clubs and disused factories.
