SILICONE NO British Premiere
Last seen at the festival with Sad Europeans in 2002, Paulo Ribeiro and his company make their Theatre Royal debut with a dazzling new work of insatiable, pungent and irreverent spirit.
Established as one of Europe's most distinctive choreographers, Paulo Ribeiro is also the newly appointed Artistic Director of Portugal's Ballet Gulbenkian. Before becoming a choreographer he danced with several internationally known companies in Belgium and France.
Based on the writings of Portuguese dramatist Jacinto Lucas Pires, Silicone No is a chaotic and profound exploration of different worlds. Silicone No is the exact demonstration of the creative disquietude of Paulo Ribeiro and his team. It is probably one of the best creations of these last years of Paulo Ribeiro's Company, one that succeeds in combining in a single semantic direction elements that are sometimes conflicting (dance, music video, costumes).
