'Corps' / responding Commission
Venue: Playroom at The Arches

Tracing a line between the limits of everyday experience and theatre, adapting to circumstance, Colette Sadler's new work for the NRLA is a dialogue between the everyday world and the auratic. The 'corps' responding is correspondence in words, both written and read, and a journey through space that finds a body answering questions posed by an accumulation of experience - concrete and illusionary, urban and rural. A line of poetry that may concede to a white line separating two points in space, the resulting dance form is both hindered and energised by the everyday, manifesting itself in near sculptural objects and dynamic movement vocabulary.

Since 1995 Colette has worked with choreographers Liz Aggiss, Jeremy James and Amanda Miller. From 1997-2000 she was a member of Cia Vicente Saez in his productions, Regina Mater, Carmen, Lilah and Fenix. On leaving the company she has been involved in various performance projects initiated by the New Moves Choreographic Core. In 2002 she received a Tramway Dark Lights commission and was a recipient of a Creative Scotland Award in 2003.

Collaborators on this project are Peter Dowling (sound) who has recently completed a large-scale commission for the Paragon Ensemble. Jose Nuo Sampaio (Light) who is resident lighting manager at the Fundaao Serralves in Oporto
