Microscopic Stories

A crackling damaged soundtrack of spoken words, sampled piano and cello. Instances selected from many years of writing brief accounts and descriptions - all refer to an experience of landscape, either real or imagined, piecing together the restoration of some kind of map.

Certain images and themes recur throughout the text: references to white paint, car journeys, sex, death, vampires, graffiti and migrating birds. Perhaps from far out in space all our lives just appear to be microscopic stories.

Originally trained in fine art and film making at Chelsea School of Art, Charlies present work explores live performance, studio recordings and gallery-based practise to present an experience of language. Projects often reflect the culture of sound bites, advertising slogans and the endless jump cuts we experience living in a media infected world. He has received an Artsadmin bursary in collaboration with Fierce! Birmingham 2003.
