I stand naked, flanked on either side by my helpers. A mound of fresh
salmon skins lie on the floor in front of me. My helpers start to dress me
from the waist down in whole salmon skins. The cold, wet skins warm up as
they come in contact with my warm body. As the skins reach the floor, they
start to form a tail, which grows across the floor, penetrating the space
and filling the room with its strong physical presence.
The
contemporary twist of fairy tale narratives, religious symbolism and the
notion of a "second skin" are some of the issues that underpin
my work.
