This
crawl is to be a continuation of a series of performance and video works
through which I have been dealing with notions of embodiment. The videos
create an experience for the viewer in which they become conscious of
their own body. I have made these works by crawling through an area with a
video camera in my hand. As I struggle to drag my body along the ground,
pulling with my elbows and pushing with my knees, the camera records the
bumping movement and my exasperation and desperation as I become more
exhausted; the duration is determined either by the length of the tape or
a physical obstruction. For the NRLA the crawl will start from the end of
a platform in Central Station down to the Arches where a video of the
crawl will be screened.
