British premiere Monteverdi's Lettere Amorose form the starting point for choreographer Raimund Hoghe's solo performance on love and loss. Collaborating with the visual artist Luca Giacomo Schulte, Hoghe works with material that is intimate and private and often borrowed from the lives of others. Here he uses love letters, many anonymous but some written by his father. Monteverdi's music is mixed with that of Mozart and Brahms as well as songs by Jacques Brel, Judy Garland, Sophia Loren and Melina Mercouri. |
