An audio-visual outing in three parts that travels into the artist's inner monologue. His secondary image acts as a platform to explore ego-formation and the subsequent inferiority complex that can occur. A mirror reflects things at the time of occurrence, whereas video enables a greater sense of detachment from one's own image. The work aims to explore the deceptive ability, as well as the possibility of video when used as a tool of self-surveillance. It is a real, yet fake, exploration of one man's identity crisis filmed through a narcissistic lens. Mark is based in Dublin and has shown work during Get Up as part of the Dublin Fringe Festival and in Looping the Loop, a night of outdoor video art projection in Temple Bar. With thanks to Anne Seagrave. |
