Located somewhere between popular media, science fiction, national security and fundamental research, Lynne Marsh's video installations offer journeys into territories representing both real and virtual worlds. By using 3D landscape imagery compiled from actual satellite data from NASA and The National Geographic Society, these works envision encounters with other-worldly characters travelling through simulated environments on earth and other celestial bodies. 'I am looking to create, explore and expose 'spaces' (imaginary, cultural, physical and non-physical) that have potential as zones for exploring identity and subjectivity. I reconstructed these 3D models as a way of transforming a territory into a new set of possibilities. I wanted to image my desires in a potential 'free zone (before colonisation).' |
