"An invitation to a show - where sits a solitary figure"

An invitation to a show - where sits a solitary figure, spotlight on her island stage. For this show there is no curtain call; she waits for her cue. So, who, or what, will give it…? Taking place in a series of stages - the 'real' stage, the screen view, and the space between the two - the work challenges the viewer's expectation of their role.

Using complex technology alongside simple live performance structures, the work plays on the understood working relationships between performer, performance and viewer.

Ilana is a graduate in fine art from the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and organiser of Platform 00000001at the Waygood Gallery. Supported by Northern Arts and Baltic.
