"turn around until you become dizzy and the world seems to fly around you ... after a few thousand rotations, will you still be you?" |

In rewind movement has been reduced to the absolute minimum: performer Lily Kiara spins on the spot for a full hour, the centre of a revolving environment of video projections and sound. The projections create an image of a possible world as seen by the performer but pass too fast to give the eye any rest. With dazzling speed we travel from the coast into the city and back again. Two cameras keep a close watch on the performer and let her image appear in the environment, doubling or tripling her presence. The movement resembles the children's game: turn around until you become dizzy and the world seems to fly around you. But rewind is not a game. After 5 or 6 minutes, any notion of time vanishes. After a few thousand rotations, will you still be you? |
