For the first time in over 100 years BT is to stop expanding it's public payphone network. Unless urgent action is taken these symbols of our post-industrial heritage could be lost forever.

As a capricious advocate of the underdog I consider it my duty to oppose this prospect by using the UK's 141,000 payphones as venues for impromptu performance art. The resulting telephone box renaissance will compel BT to re-examine its position and embark on the biggest expansion programme since the heady days of the 1960's.
