Monali’s time-based performances (processes) are atmospheric, almost theatrically dreamlike. They are often ritualistic and show the cyclical pattern of destruction and renewal.  Formal and conceptual ideas, together with the framework of personal references, inform the fragile divide between her life and art. 

The language and materials of the artist’s work are adapted and influenced by the immediate surroundings in which she finds herself working, reflecting the cultural and social elements of that environment.  Glasgow offering very different conditions to those found in India.
