ANTHONY SCHRAG
The Mistake of Vision

Seeking to explore the intelligent body as a way to broaden access to contemporary art, Anthony Schrag places our bodies in the space where charm and humour overlap with chaos and danger. This work follows his recent sculptural performances that play on the notion that the world we inhabit is a safe one.
‘Born in Zimbabwe, I grew up in the Middle East, Switzerland, the UK, and Canada. I originally studied writing and was published to some small acclaim in Canada. I gave it all up for art and later studied sculpture and photography at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver. Recently, I completed my MFA at the Glasgow School of Art, and I currently reside in that fine city. I have had various group and solo exhibitions in Canada, the UK, as well as further afield internationally including Beijing, Iceland, Hungary, Norway, and New York.’
